Russia is the champion for the Football 7 World Cup in the men's category
The World Cup has a new owner. This season, Russia won the title of the competition in Rome, Italy. Other favorites like Mexico and Brazil were left behind and for the first time, the Russians took the main title of the sport.
Russia was one of the main highlights of the 2019 World Cup. Both in men and women’s category, the country had great results. In the men's category, the team finished first in Group A, where it’s opponents were Chile, Italy and Ethiopia. In the quarterfinals the team beat Argentina and, in the semifinals, Chile.
The decisive game was against Mexico, who had eliminated last year’s champion Brazil in the semifinals. Even motivated by their victory in the South American classic, the Mexicans could not hold back Russia, who won 6-1 and got the unprecedented title in the competition.
