F7 HISTORY - With unbeaten campaign Italy won the first Mundialito Football 7 in 2011
The 2011 season was a milestone in the history of football 7. Great teams disembarked in Brazil to play the first Mundialito of modality, Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro has received a large Arena specially set up for the matches of Mundialito and the Brazilians saw the Italian team be undefeated champion.
Altogether eight teams divided into two groups they participated in the first edition of the tournament. In the first phase Italy faced Peru, Canada and Argentina and in all matches came out victorious. In the semifinals the squadra azurra faced Uruguay and won the game 7-2. Just as Italy Brazil reached the undefeated final and the match between the two was exciting.
In the big decision the Italian team opened the scoring with Grana but Cauê and Daniel left the hosts in front. But Italy managed to recover and turned the game around with Foglia and Marcelo and won the title of Mundialito. The team had the scorer of the tournament (Marcelo) the Craque (Foglia) and the best goalkeeper (Vanzela).
